Force India shift car’s development focus to 2013 – Formula 1 news
Force India technical director, Andy Green has said that they are focussing to line-up their resources for car development to the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Green said that they can’t manage to make further advancement in their car for the forthcoming races. However, he said that they will try their best to maximise on the given opportunities and circumstances.
“Development now really is turning to next year,” Green said. “For a team of our size we can't afford to develop a car much beyond this point in the season. It's really a case of trying to optimise what we have.”
Moreover, it will be important to note that the Silverstone based team targeted to finish fourth in the constructors’ championship this year. Conversely, they had a tough competition from their main rivals, Sauber and Williams due to which they are presently
standing at 8th place in the rankings.
Nevertheless, they have performed better than the last year as they have scored 20 more points in the current season so far as compared to where they were after the first half of the preceding one.
In addition, Green said that they are currently aiming to secure 6th position which according to them is quite a realistic goal. Furthermore, he said that they are expecting even tougher competition in the races ahead. Nonetheless, he said that
they are feeling positive and are pushing really hard to attain their target.
“At the moment we would be targeting sixth position, that would be realistic target for us,” Green added. “It's going to be difficult. The cars in front of us are all very, very competitive. So it's going to be big ask and we'll have to dig deep, as we always
do, and we'll be pushing like crazy right until the end.”
Besides, he said that they are very much pleased with the overall performance of their drivers, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg in the season until now and are ready to provide support to them in every area of the sport so that they main score competitive
points in the forthcoming races.
