Force India team principal Vijay Mallya thrashes Indian critics – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal Vijay Mallya has recently thrashed his Indian critics who claim that his team lacks an Indian Formula 1 driver.
“To be criticised, largely by the Indian folks, that I don't have an Indian driver is I think just blatantly unfair. My only response to them would be that I know more about Formula 1 than they do,” he told the media.
The first ever Indian Grand Prix of the sport is expected to take place this year in October 2011 and the organisers of the event have recently stated that they would like to see at least one Indian driver compete at the event. They are expecting two Indian
drivers to participate in the race which includes Karun Chandhok and Narain Karthikeyan.
However, Karthikeyan is currently not racing for Hispania Racing Team due to some issues but he claims that he will be racing during the Indian Grand Prix for sure. Chandhok on the other hand is the test driver for Team Lotus which decreases his chances
of racing at the event as well.
Mallya as a result stated that he could not be blamed for the two Indian drivers’ unsuccessful runs in the sport and that it is unfair to claim it is his fault that there is no Indian driver in his team.
“If that's what they want to do, drive a Formula 1 car for the sake of driving a Formula 1 car and winding up at the back, I can't do anything about it. There has got to be good, raw talent in India and I am determined to go find it,” said Force India’s
team principal.
He added that he has been in Indian motorsports since the past 30 years now and he understands the sport much more than any of these critics.
One has to admit that Mallya definitely has made a very good team in Formula 1 as they are considered as one of the mid running teams of the sport which is a huge achievement.
Since he has some of the best drivers in the sport, he obviously does not want to go for an Indian driver who is not as good as Adrian Sutil or Paul di Resta who are actively scoring points for the team.
