Force India team principal Vijay Mallya to attend the Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
The team principal for Formula 1 team Force India, Vijay Mallya, is excited over the Indian GP and confirms to attend the event.
Mallya’s plan to be attending the event taking place this weekend had been unsure while his Kingfisher Airlines issue continues to raise flags.
However, it has now been decided that chairman for the troubled Airlines will be attending the race taking place at Greater Noida despite being reprimanded by various media reports for doing this as he was not present for the negotiations between Kingfisher
and its employees.
He has been accused of being an ‘absconder’ while Mallya has backed himself by stating that he has a very busy man who has to be at many places and the media only speculates because he does not talk to them.
Commenting about the Indian GP which is being held for the second time, he said, “Last year's race was a tremendous success. I'm sure we can expect an equally spectacular event this year. Buddh International Circuit always looks after us very well and I
know that they have been working hard behind the scenes to fine-tune the circuit and facilities even more. But above all else, the most important thing is the layout of the track because last year all the drivers loved it. It's certainly one of the best tracks
in the world.”
On the other hand, the employees of the Kingfisher Airlines, who have been unpaid since April and on strike from earlier in this month, have plans to disrupt the team principal’s arrival at the much-anticipated sporting event. One of the engineers has stated
that they are planning for a sit in protest so they can record the problems they have been going through in front of a wider public.
While Mallya has been trying to find a foreign buyer for his Airlines buried under debts and taxes, he is also hopeful of his team’s performance in the coming race. He has been asking the team to struggle in the remaining four races so they can get ahead
of Sauber F1 team in the constructors’ championship.
