Force India well placed for the European phase of the 2011 Formula 1 season – Vijay Mallya
Force India’s boss, Vijay Mallya, has recently stated that his team is “well placed” for the upcoming European races of the 2011 Formula 1 season, starting with the Turkish Grand Prix, expected to take place this weekend.
The team has scored some average results until now. They secured just 4 points in 3 races but since this is just the beginning of the season, this is not the final pace of the team’s new car.
Adrian Sutil finished at 9th place at the season’s opening race of the season in Australia while Paul di Resta finished at 10th place at the Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix.
“I'm very proud of both our drivers, too. Paul has driven superbly and has adapted very quickly to Formula One. Combined with Adrian's speed and experience, I see no reason why we cannot challenge for points at every race this year”, said Force India’s team
boss.
Force India was hoping for much better results this year especially after a very promising pre-season testing period but now it seems that the team is struggling to perform up to mark.
Vijay claims that the team is pleased with its start to the season but they are hoping to score even better results in the upcoming phase of the season which takes place in Europe.
“I think that overall we can be pleased with our start to the season. To have points on the board and a car that is capable of qualifying in the top ten means we are well placed to build on our competitiveness as we begin the European season”, said Mallya.
Other than that, he added that the team has some promising aerodynamic upgrades in store which will definitely affect the team’s car’s performance significantly.
The upcoming race is expected to take place in Turkey this weekend and the team is hoping to score some better results there. Both the team’s drivers are confident and happy with the team’s performance until now and are hoping to score the best possible
results in the near future.
