Force India will announce new driver line up at the end of the 2012 F1 season – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal, Vijay Mallya, has decided to announce the new driver line up for the next F1 season by the end of the current season.
With only two more races left in the present season; the F1 teams are already getting prepared for the next one. Teams are busy in signing up new drivers and Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg will be joining Sauber from the next season. However, Mallya says
that they will stick to the team’s tradition and wait to finalise the decision about new drivers until the ongoing season finishes.
“We have traditionally waited until the end of the season to confirm our line-up and I expect we will stick to this schedule,” Mallya said. “With the state of the driver market at the moment there is no rush to make an announcement. We have a shortlist and
will take our time to make sure we have the fastest drivers available in our cars next season.”
The other Force India driver Paul di Resta is believed to stay with the team and many drivers are being anticipated to partner him in 2013 which include Bruno Senna, Jules Bianchi, and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi etc.
Di Resta has stated that he is not worried about who will be his future teammate as it is not a decision for him to take. He is more interested in driving well on the track and will accept whatever decision is taken. He believes he can be competitive regardless
if it is a rookie or an experienced driver that joins him. On the other hand, he did not support Hulkenberg’s decision to move to Sauber.
As the United States GP approaches near and will be taking place on a completely new track, it will also be the first time that the team will be driving in America. Mallya is excited about going to a new venue.
He added, “Visiting a new venue always presents us with new challenges, but from what I've heard we can expect a first class facility.” He believes that the city of Austin is a place of friendly people who will be welcoming the sport and the teams warmly.
