Force India’s Adrian Sutil much hopeful for Suzuka
German drivers have perhaps never failed to entertain the race lovers nor have they ever fallen short of media attention. Once again this year, the seven men from the country have cruised through the 2010 season to occupy four of the top ten positions.
Force India’s Adrian Sutil has settled himself at the ninth place in Driver’s Championship followed by the most legendry countryman, Michael Schumacher.
As Formula One squad now heads for the sixteenth race of the season, a sports website talked to the German driver about his feelings regarding the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
“Suzuka is one of my favorite circuits, so I always look forward to going there. Plus going back to Japan always feels a little like going home as I lived there for a year in 2006 when I was competing in Japanese F3”, said Sutil.
The driver seemed excited to recall his time in Japan, telling that some of his fondest memories of the early racing years come from there. During his stay in that country, he had raced four times on the Suzuka track and at some other instances also, he
went there for free practice with Midland.
Now, as he leaves for his fifth race on the track, he revealed that other than Silverstone and Hockenheim, he also considers this race to be his 'home' race due to the historical value this place has in his career.
Suzuka is indeed a challenging track that offers real test to the drivers’ skills. It has many tough corners which demand immense concentration while each presents a challenge of its own. Some parts of the track are simply remarkable like the 130R which
gives a great driving experience. Overall, it contains every aspect that would keep a driver involved and excited throughout the journey.
While talking about the track, Sutil exclaimed, “You're just flat out in seventh and it bends so you are completely on the limit. It really rewards you if you get it right - I can remember last year taking it in the wet at almost dry level of speed, just
the best feeling.”
Looking at Adrian's last year performance, one can say that he has a good grip of the track as he pulled hard in the qualifying and ended at fourth place on the grid. However, the ending wasn't much of a reward for the team as it faced a penalty due to breaking
the yellow flag rule. At the end of the race, Sutil stood only at thirteenth place.
But still, the German terms it a good race believing that his pace was pretty satisfactory and he looks forward for a similar performance by the car once again.
He looked pleased to exclaim that the Force India car has been competitive on almost all kinds of tracks. It would be particularly good at low down force layouts, the way it had been at Spa and Monza earlier this year.
He now wishes to finish amongst the top ten in the qualifying which would help them get a good overall race result.
Force India currently stands at sixth place in the drivers’ championship having bagged sixty points so far, standing only four points ahead of Williams. To safeguard their position, the following four races are immensely important for them.
