Force India’s Paul di Resta aiming to beat Renault after successful 2011 Singapore GP – Formula 1
Force India driver Paul di Resta is aiming to beat Lotus-Renault team in the upcoming races of the 2011 Formula 1 season after getting better results from the recently held Singapore Grand Prix.
Di Resta said that he hopes his team can beat Renault in the 2011 championship battle following their Singapore run.
He discussed the Singapore race weekend and added that the upgrades, which had been delivered to their VJM04 car for the 14th round of the season, worked really well throughout the Grand Prix.
The Brit showed his best performance of the ongoing season so far at the Marina Bay street circuit recently, where he managed a sixth position in the end.
After starting from the 10th place on the opening grid, the Silverstone-based outfit driver struggled a lot for his best possible finish at the Singapore street circuit and ended up behind McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
Di Resta commented, “It is crucial for our championship, and hopefully we can keep the form we have got and Renault can struggle a little bit more, and we can certainly put a fight to them until the end of the year.”
He added, “This will suit us more for the rest of the year with the high downforce tracks; the stuff for tyre wear has helped too. So we have to be fairly optimistic that it will carry on - and on the back of this result there might be another push in terms
of performance to push us on a little bit more.”
The 25-year-old driver further mentioned that he believes they can catch Renault in the next race weekends of the season, as their package is competitive at the moment.
He stated that his car’s pace was good during the Singapore Grand Prix and it helped him a lot for his sixth position as well. After the 2011 Singapore race weekend, Di Resta is looking forward to successful last five rounds of the ongoing season.
Let’s see how he manages his race at the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix taking place on October 09, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
