Force India’s Paul di Resta looking forward for strong performance in German Grand Prix – Formula 1
Force India’s Formula 1 driver Paul di Resta has said that his performance in the qualifiers of the Silverstone and Valencia Grands Prix of the 2011 Formula 1 season shows that he will be strong in the upcoming German Grand Prix.
Resta added that although he has never had the full taste of the German circuit in his GP2 career but he has learnt that the weather can be unpredictable.
The British driver stated, “Although I've been to the Nurburgring a few times, I've never raced on the full grand prix track. It was always the shortened version used for the DTM races. During my visits there I've learned that the weather can be quite unpredictable.”
Resta added that although the German fans will be cheering for their six German drivers on the grid but the attendance in Silverstone for just three British drivers will not be matched in Germany.
“I think we should be quite positive going into the race. I know the German fans will be out in force with six German drivers to support. But they will have to work hard to match the atmosphere we had at Silverstone, which was very special,” stated di Resta.
The British driver was the pick of the Silverstone Grand Prix qualifiers when he qualified in sixth place in front of his home crowd. He was able to show the real pace of Force India’s VJM04 for the first time in the 2011 season.
Unfortunately for di Resta, he was not able to convert his superb run in the qualifiers to a point-scoring finish in the race. The Brit’s pit-stop was the worst of the season as his crew brought wrong tyres out on the field and di Resta’s race was ruined
as he joined the race in last place.
Nevertheless, ten races are still to be contested in the 2011 season and Force India will have many opportunities’ to fight Toro Rosso and Sauber for a higher position on championship table.
