Force India’s Vijay Mallya hoping for better show in Valencia after Montreal – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal Vijay Mallya has said that the Canadian Grand Prix was a “race to remember” for the team and after a low downforce track, they are now back to a high downforce track that is Valencia where the team is going to try its best to maintain
its pace.
“After the low downforce challenge of Montreal, it’s back to high downforce in Valencia. We continue to push hard with the development of the car, mainly on the aero side with several small detailed additions this weekend,” he said.
Mallya stated that the Canadian Grand Prix was indeed a race full of drama and unpredictability which is the main reason why the fans enjoyed the race a lot. Even though the track was flooded with water due to heavy rain showers throughout the race and even
though the race was stopped for 2 hours, the fans did not leave the grand stands and made the race even more exciting and enjoyable for the teams.
He added that the team also found out its car’s true potential but unluckily, neither of the team’s drivers secured a single point for which the team principal blamed luck which he claims plays a major role in Formula 1.
“This is all part of racing and we will take the disappointment on the chin and come back stronger next time. It was all the more frustrating because the VJM04 was extremely competitive, we had a good strategy and we missed a chance to pick up some big points,”
he added.
Currently, Adrian Sutil is in 12th place in the drivers’ standings with 8 points while his teammate Paul di Resta is currently in 17th place with just 2 points.
The team has been trying its best to improve its performance but since the past two races in Monaco and Canada were quite ‘eventful,’ the team has not been able to show its ‘true pace’ which might be evident at the upcoming European Grand Prix.
