  1. easy... 1st recon bn you can do it all even while in the navy as a corpsman.

    Basic UDT/SEAL (Training)

  2. SEAL training is more strenuous, BUDS is part of SEAL training, and there jobs are essentially the same where reconaissance is concerned . . . but SEALS tend to be a little more diverse. They have a designated diving rate, and a designated explosive ordanance disposal rate.

  3. Well you really dont have a choice in this one, the Marine Corps is doing away with Force Recon and is going to Recon Battalion which is located on Camp LeJeune. Even Recon Battalion is pretty bad but I must say that it is much harder to get into the SEALS. For Recon Battalion you have to do a lot in the pool including just treading water for 30 minutes after a 3 mile run. Then all that you have to do is Ace the PFT 20 pullups, 100 crunches, and a 3 miles run around 18 minutes, that is just to get in. The seals training just to get in takes months. If I had to choose between the 2 though I would go with the SEALS if you have a choice, and this is coming from a Marine.

  4. What do you mean by difficult? Entry? Missions?...SEAL initial training is more difficult and is one of the most challenging of all entry selections in our military, but all the jobs both groups do sometimes overlap with the SEALs doing more high-end missions with more PR.

    Diffrences:

The United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance detachments, or Force Recon, operate in deep reconnaissance, direct action, and the control of supporting arms; to convey military intelligence beyond the means of a commander's area of influence in the battlefield. They are capable of operating independently in combined methods of amphibious and ground operations by utilizing methods of conventional and unconventional warfare in defense of the United States.

The United States Navy Sea, Air and Land Forces, commonly known as the US Navy SEALs, are the Special Operations Forces of the U.S. Navy, employed in direct action and special reconnaissance operations. SEALs are also capable of employing unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, and counter-terrorism missions.

    What is BUD/S:

    Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEAL (BUD/S)

BUD/S consists of a three-week 'Indoctrination Course', known as INDOC, followed by three phases, covering physical conditioning (seven weeks), diving (eight weeks), and land warfare (nine weeks) respectively. Officer and enlisted personnel go through the same training program. It is designed to develop and test their stamina, leadership, and ability to work as a team

  5. Marines are cool, but SEALs are much more hardcore.

  6. To correct one point: SEALs are not Explosive Ordnance Disposal, nor are they given an EOD rate. Two completely different jobs. Some SEALs have become EOD in the past and some EOD have gone over to the SEALs, but the two are not the same.

  7. Sorry no more Force Recon..It has been placed into MARSOC..

Both are(were) very similar in what they do..Often the two groups would train together..

SEALS does not perform missions for the USMC..SEALS handle other missions and do not work as a primary USMC assest..
