Question:

Force feeding my hamster?

She hasn't eaten hardly anything for a week. The vet gave me antibiotice and told me to force feed her if the antibiotics didn't help after 24 hours. She told me what to feed her but I forgot to ask how often and how much. I made the food and gave her some about an hour ago. Any help would be greatly apprciated. (The vets office is closed now.)

  1. You should be able to call the vet's office for help. They should be able to give you information over the phone.

  2. I think it is best to ask your vet since it could be dangerous to play guessing games with a sick hamster. However if your doctor has told you to feed her normal hamster food, then try with her favorite treat first. If she does not eat that, then try some bread dipped in milk. You can try some low fat milk or baby formula fed by drops through a syringe. Be patient and gentle and do not use too much force or she might choke on the milk. However as I said before, the vet is the best to give you the correct answer since he knows exactly what your hammie is suffering from, so try reaching him quickly.
