already replaced the electronic ignition and the fuel injector pump. It seems worse in the heat of the day

  1. Take only short trips... LOL ;-)

    I had a similar problem on my truck, turned out to be a heat sensitive pickup coil inside the distributor.  I kept replacing parts on the ignition system until the problem went away.


  2. Double check your timing and also look at the distributor dog, it may be on upside down. If so the distributor is slipping off of the right timing.

    Also look at the vacuum lines, you may have the lines hooked up backwards (if it has a double acting vacuum diaphragm).

  3. Replace the ignition coil,they are know to do exactly what you describe and I have had the same problem and after replacing the coil it has in the past fixed situation.
