1993/L FORD ESCORT 1.8D

5 Door Manual Diesel 1800cc

Don't wanna get fleeced by some guy with a sharp intake of breath.

The only thing wrong with it is damage to door frame and battery cables cut when some friendly neighbour broke into car to disable the alarm.

I've had enough and am emigrating!

£50 or £100?

  1. take the car to a scrap metal merchant not to a car dismantle-rs ( scrap yard ) the scrap metal merchant will pay you about £150 if you take the wheels and tyres off and dispose of them yourself. if they are alloy wheels get tyres taken off and take wheels back and there's another 20/25 pounds depending on weight of wheels. if you leave steel wheels on the vehicle they will deduct £ 5 for each tyre. cut the catalytic converter off and scrap that separate and you can get an additional £25- £60 depending where you take it.. another good tip is fill the car up with any scrap metal you can find... washing machines are good to throw in the boot... but fridges or freezers are a dead no no, the more the car weighs the more cash you earn.. play your cards right and you could get up to £ 250 for your escort.. ... or if you can't be bothered phone the scrap yard and they will collect for free..... GOOD LUCK

  2. Scrap value will be £100 - £150.

  3. Advertise it (autotrader bargain box, freeads etc etc) as spares or repair at £150 ono and see. It probably won't make £150 but it will get interest, scrap value is high at the moment and even cars WITH MoT and tax are going to scrap for this reason!

If you can get it there you could try a local car auction with a reserve of about £100, or do the same with eBay.

    Good luck.

  4. If you weigh the car in as scrap you will get over 150 quid at the moment

  5. Well, in the US, California more precisely...

The "pick n pull", if you are able to have it running and pull it into the parking lot, you would probably get about $300 US dollars since it only has the door frame damage..  You would need to get new battery cables so it ran though..

Not running, maybe $50-100 US dollars.. otherwise there are a lot of "non profits" that you can donate to, in the US you get tax deductions, but not sure for where you are...

  6. Our local scrap yard WANTS £150 just for the seats. You might like to advertise the spares first.

  7. First off, take any decent/new parts off the car.

    Sell them on Ebay.

Take the CAT off.  You'll get at least 50 for that.

Then weigh the rest of the car in.
