Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado? my first car.?

I'm 15 and I'm looking into buying a F-150 or Silverado.

My price range is about $10k so I've been looking for an 03 or newer. My parents are Ford, but the more research I do, I like the Silverado more.

I'll probably get an extended cab for my friends, but its not important. I wont be towing much. Also, city MPG is a BIG deal. And most of all it has to look sweet!

So, which should I start looking at buying?

  1. I think the F-150's engine has been smaller for a couple of generations of models, so that most likely means it has better fuel economy. as far as quality goes if you're getting an '03 or newer there's probably not going to be any difference. also if you're big on fuel economy and you're not looking to tow much, try and go with a v-6.

  2. I drive a 2005 silverado Z71. It has a 5.3, extended cab. I can average about 18 going 60 on the highway, but in the city, I only get about 16-16.5.

  3. you need more money or look at an older model

    $10,000 = Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD 01

    02's run $12 to $14,000

you can get a V6 but don't expect a lot of power.

  4. You'd be much happier with the ford, unless you like cheap plastic interior. Also you may want to consider the 4.0 ford ranger you can get a nice 4x4 for 10k. Gas is expensive and you will want to keep the roads hot when your 16. A fullsize truck will keep your wallet empty.
