  1. Triton for the average family man, Vortec for the family man and towing occansionally, and the HEMI for all your towing needs.

  2. The Ford Triton gets 310 hp & 425 ft lbs/torque; vortec gets 315 hp & 338 ft lbs/torque; hemi gets 353 hp & 395 ft lbs/torque. You may know that hp doesn't make a big impact with trucks as torque does. An engine with more HP make a vehicle move faster easier if that engine's made for high rpm, which none of these are. Torque allows you to tow more, and get more power to the wheels. 425 ft lbs is pretty far off from 338, or 395 ft lbs. If you want to brag about packing a HEMI under the hood, buy the Dodge, I can't think of anything good to say about the GMC, besides the fact you can brag about having more power than a Dodge, but with the Ford, you can brag about have more torque than both, and pull a couple GMs or Dodges out of the mud they're stuck in pretty easily. Also, the Ford has much bigger valves & higher compression; so you can save money on gas because the exaust's not restricted, and no fuel is wasted. If you have half a brain and want the best, buy a Ford.

  3. depends on what you're going to do with it... drive as a daily car, tow ,haul, etc...?  i have a vortec 8.1 in a 2500 chevy hd.. its been the best truck i've ever had !!! 150,000 miles and i still pull my 38' 5th wheel all over the place.  the triton will not do this nor will the standard hemi.  i know this because my friends have them and they cant keep up towing their trailers.. 2 of my friends have gone to the chevy diesels and they do get better street/empty milage. not a huge difference in towing.  the dodge diesel does have a better rate when towing but its a real diesel(cummins) the trannys dont do so good though.  if you're going to drive it like a toy, pick the truck you like best.. if you're going to use it like a truck--look at the chevy or dodges..the ford 6.0 has had alot of problems for some reason and, i see alot of people trying to get rid of them ..  just depends on you at this point--money, style, performance and usability will help you to decide.. good luck
