Ford contour 98 driver side window problem?

Hello, my car window does not go up and down. I was trying to see what was the possible cause of the problem.

I opened the door panel and unscrewed the bolts for regulator and motor. I was hoping that I would be able to pull the glass completely out after that. But I could not. I was only able to pull the window nearly halfway in upward direction. I was also hoping that I would be able to see the wiring from the switch to motor and others, and also the gaskets on which the window goes up and down. I could not do any of them as I was not able to pull the motors out from its position. I also do not know how I can see all as they are still inside of the door.

Please tell me what I should do next in order to troubleshoot further.

  1. Find out if the motor is receiving power from the switch. That will tell you about everything. If needed, power the motor directly with a battery or charger to eliminate it as a fault.

  2. The window regulator is a cable operated system. Sometimes the cable slips out of it's grooves and gets stretched. The only way to correct the problem is to replace the regulator.
