Question:

Ford transmission T6 manual hard to shift only when standing still,could be syncromesh? how hard to fix?

  1. Pop the clutch while in neutral, then hold the clutch in again and try to engage first while the input shaft is still spinning.  Still nothing?  That could be the syncro, could be the shifter itself is balky going through that gate.

    With the engine off, get it into first.  Be sure you've got it in first.  Now, shift to neutral and try to come back to first.  If it balks, it's the shifter.

    I'd take it to the shop.  Trannies aren't my bag.


  2. t6..  guessing its a mustang.  If its all gears its probably a clutch, if one gear its a synchro   If its pre 2005, just lift up on the pedal to adjust.  otherwise may need a clutch

  3. Sounds like the clutch adjustment - it's not fully disengaging and the input shaft is still slightly spinning.
