Foreign Films Query?

Question

Can anyone recommend some good foreign films to watch? I like Drama, Comedy and Thrillers. Much Obliged.

AMELIE!!!

If you've never seen it, you HAVE to! It's the best , well I guess comedy but it's so different from anything else I've ever scene.

Rosetta is my favorite foreign independant film.

Also, the fantasy/thriller, Les Pact Des Lupus - Brotherhood of the Wolf is good.

Kieslowski's The Double Life of Veronique and his Three Colors Trilogy: Blue, White, and Red are all fantastic.

Ringu, the Japanese thriller film that The Ring was based on is WAY more scary and disturbing.

The Seven Samurai. THE classic guy movie, but anyone can appreciate it.

Shoah. It was definitely the most moving film on the Holocaust.

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is an old German silent movie. It's the most classic horror film of all time.

The City of Lost Children is a really cool fairy tale movie.

Volver - brilliant Spanish film, very wacky storyline, funny, dramatic, moving - has everything you need! I love it! It's about a woman who's 'spirit' helps out her daughter and friends, and rescues her relationship with her other daughter. Great movie about bringing a family back to together.

Good Bye Lenin! - excellent German film! A pair of siblings convince their mother, who wakes up from a coma, that East Germany is still Communist - problem is, it's now Capitalist and their mum was a Communist activist. Hilarious in some places, moving in others. And Daniel Bruhl is so hot haha.

Pan's Labyrinth - Spanish fantasy/supernatural film. A girl gets taken to a magical land and has to complete 3 tasks in order to be returned to her true home. The special effects are amazing and there is some good drama too - her stepfather is eeeevil! Mercedes is legend :D

Motorcyle Diaries - Spanish film based on Che Guevara (spelling?), two doctor friends travel round South America, helping the sick locals. Beautiful scenery, acting and story. Brilliant film.

Nightwatch - Russian film about people belonging to Day and Night. The Nightwatch are a group of Day people who make sure that Night people don't break the rules and harm the Day people. Bit of a crazy film to be honest, I've only seen it once, it was quite good. You'll like it if you're into supernatural/horror stuff.

Tsotsi - South African film about a criminal who ends up having to look after a baby he finds in the back seat of a car that he steals. It's a great drama that shows how a hard criminal slowly changes as he is forced to care for this child, and in the end it's difficult for him to give him back. Superb film, seriously moving end *cries*

Death Note - depends if you're willing to try anime... Death Note is a Japanese anime, and easily one of the best thrillers I have EVER seen. Please don't be put off by it being an anime, Death Note has a massive worldwide following to prove it lol. A bored straight-A student, Yagami Light, comes across a notebook that claims a person will die if their name is written in the book... Light tests it out on a criminal shown on tv holding hostages. Within 40 second the criminal dies from a heat attack!  Light then takes it upon himself to rid the world of ciminals, only to be hunted down by 'L', another genius who works for the police, and the FBI. Is Light a saviour or a mass murderer?? COMPULSORY VIEWING! One of the best thrillers ever made in my opinion.
