Question:

Foreign entry requirements: proof of sufficient funds?

This didn't happen to me in Europe, but supposedly happens in South and Central America where I'm going. When entering a foreign country they supposedly ask for proof that you have enough money to stay in the country for the time of your visit. What sort of proof do they need? Treveler's checks? A print out of your bank statement? Cash on hand?

  1. It's no big deal.

A bank statement is sufficient evidence enough.

    Happy travels.

  2. It has never happened to me in almost 100 entries into every Latin american country, except Peru.

It exists in europe, too, but doesn't happen there.  It is a simple common requirement at almost all immigration around the world and , with the exception of the US or if you look like a refugee from Africa or Southeast Aisa, is never required or asked for.
