can a peson have cremated ashes tested for poisons or foriegn bodies, which may have been the cause of death?

  1. This would be unlikely, as organic poisons or toxins would be either volatilized or oxidized at normal cremation temperatures of 1600-1800 °F (870-980°C).

    On the other hand, some heavy metals (lead, iron, etc.) may remain in the ashes. So it may be possible to extract some information if that was the cause of death. Unfortunately, such a cause of death would usually be noted through autopsy well before cremation.
