Forest Ralph aiming to take home the money in the Grade OR Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby
Shelbourne Park will host the Grade OR Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 1 Heat 21 on 4th August, 2012, where six hounds will aim to take home the €250 over the distance of 550 yards.
Among the line-up is the Mason trained, Forest Ralph, who seems to be in good order. With two victories already under his belt, the black hound seems to have it all.
Both of his previous victories took place at Shelbourne Park, something that definitely gives him an edge over others runners. The runner is lightly-raced and lacks experience, but that does not mean that he lacks talent and skill.
The son of Forest Master, out of Forest Daisy, took the 550 yard track by storm on 21st July,2012, when he defeated, the Dolores Ruth trained, Razldazl Luke, by a short-head and completed the race in 29.62 seconds.
The hound maintained the same composure when he entered the Grade OR SIS Live Open 550 over the same distance, and defeated, Ruthless Man, by a short-head and clocked the distance in 30.61 seconds.
Racing with a winning shot of 7-2 and breaking out of trap 2, the hound is on a mission to win.
Razldazl Barack will break out of trap 5, and race with an 11-2 shot of winning. His last four starts took place at Shelbourne Park and in those races he has shown two different sides.
The son of Kinloch Brae, out of Razldazl Pearl, triumphed in the Grade OR Night Of The Stars Open 575 on 16th June, 2012, and the Grade OR Night Of The Stars Open 575 on 7th July, 2012, where he claimed
the victory over a distance of 575 yards in both races.
The Dolores Ruth trained black hound finished second to Ballymac Vic by a massive margin of 13 lengths in the Townviewfoods.com Champion Stakes Semi-final at Shelbourne Park on 14th July, 2012.
After that, the hound somewhat lost his fervour when he finished last in the Grade OR Townviewfoods.com Champion Stakes Final over 550 yards.
Forest Ralph seems to be in better shape, and is more likely to win. His two consecutive victories have given him a slight advantage and he will try to break through the wire first.
