Forget Me Not Lane and Lexi The Princess notch victories for trainer Kevin Ryan at Redcar
Forget Me Not Lane, son of Holy Roman Emperor, out of Mrs. Arkada, made his connections beam with pride when he triumphed in the John Smith's Redcar Straight-Mile Handicap, which took place at Redcar on 21st May, 2012.
Mounted by rider Graham Lee, the three-year-old gelding entered with a 7-1 chance, and used his swift pace to defeat, My Guardian Angel, by a marginal difference of a neck, whereas the Richard Fahey trained, Double Cee stood third.
Owner Jack Hanson has a fifty-year history with the Redcar racecourse, and has trained many successful runners over the course of his career. To the press, he stated that:
"I used to train, I had over 600 winners, the best I had was a horse called Frankie who finished fourth in the Guineas and ran some good races. I won the Zetland Gold Cup in 1961 and I served on the board of directors here for over 40 years."
Trainer Kevin Ryan was pleased with this victory, as it was the first of his career in the four starts he has saddled.
The runner seems to improve with every race as he previously finished third in the Betfred "The Home of Goals Galore" Maiden Stakes at Musselburgh on 8th
April, 2012.
Joe O'Gorman, who is the trainer’s assistant, told the press that: "He's a nice horse but he's a big baby. That's his minimum trip, in time he'll want further. I'm delighted he's won for the owner as he's a wonderful man."
Redcar racecourse was lucky for Kevin Ryan as his talented bay filly, Lexi The Princess, notched an incredible victory in the Racing UK On Channel 432 Maiden Claiming Stakes.
The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor, out of mare Star Profile, had all the elements she needed for winning, with the speed, the stamina, the determination and the support of the punters, she raced as a favourite with a shot of 7-2.
With jockey Franny Norton on her back, she increased her pace when it was needed most and finished half-length before the David Nicholls trained, Jamesbo's Girl.
The two-year-old filly has age on her side and seems that she will take on big races in the future.
