In a bid to build a young Aussie side, the national selectors dumped the 36-year-old opener and stirred up a controversial debate. After getting his name excluded from the list of contracted players, Katich started lashing out at the selectors and subsequently

According to the selection panel, dropping out aging players like Katich was a part of strategy for the reconstruction of the squad after the World Cup debacle. However, the veteran opener called it a personal act, saying that his scrap with the newly-appointed
skipper after Sydney Test in 2009 is responsible for his elimination.
The two parties are making a lot of headlines these days, but Jones wants both sides to calm down, as he advised Katich to "Get Over It".

Commenting on the question whether Katich deserved to be sidelined, the former batsman asked, "Do people get a call from their past employers when they are retrenched or sacked? He clearly hasn't worked it out. Players of today can be a little precious at
times. They want everything and nine times out of 10, they get it."
Although, many former players regarded the NSW batsman as good for the national obligations, Jones – to the contrary - cited selectors’ decision to hurl out Katich as the right move.
Referring to Katich’s ordinary average of 29.00 in the last seven innings, the controversial commentator uttered that since he was not producing anything extraordinary with the bat, he cannot complain.
Due to his recent disrespectful remarks, Katich was served a legal notice by CA, but the opening batsman is determined to fight at any level to retain his position.
