Question:

Forget civic duty, what about revolutionary responsibility?

As citizens of the United States, aren't we under some sort of obligation or moral responsibility to guide the government back to the direct it should be going?

In it's current state, the government is untrustworthy, corrupt, and far from what it was founded to be. Yet, despite a allegedly just system of voting, implying we are a democracy, it seems that change through simple political reform is impossible.

Thomas Jefferson implied revolutions were healthy if not necessary. Is it time? After a couple hundred years (comparing to the 10-15 years proposed by Jefferson), I feel that we are due.

*Not proposing the violent government take over or anything remotely comparable. As in many situations violence is not the solution; it would only divide our nation more (if possible). We should be proud of our government and our citizenship. Not ashamed as many of us are.

  1. More money for U.N. to make it strong. U.S. citizens to join in instead of Army. Anthropologist has been asigned to unit in Iraq as soldiers make transition to peacekeepin according to Yahoo News. Wonder if article planted or poking fun at people. Anyway U.S. citizen Peacekeepers in own country an end to Human Supremacist attitudes. United Nations which can bring Global Warming under control. Peacekeepers not War Fighters in Israel,Palestine. That is Peacekeepers to keep peace not replace armies. Strong U.N. capable of helping people doing this in own land should this be desire.  Israelis,Palestinians bizzare idea but own lands do not have to even leave to keep peace. Works there maybe elsewhere with citizens in own countries. Maybe South Americans can do so with legitimacy of strong U.N. Maybe join U.S. citizens in efforts in U.S.A.

  2. Very nicely stated question. Revolutionary responsibility is required. I believe we might be on the verge to witnessing one this year. The NH results kind of temporarily clouded the revolutions rising.

I like McCain though. If not a revolutionary, he certainly is a maverick. He however hasn't caused the people to arise in changing things like Obama is able to.

Whether or not Obama is annointed as the President, I believe he will have started an enduring movement. He is  good at organizing community movements. He may be instrumental in making the peaceful revolution happen.

Let's wait and see what happens on Super Tuesday.

  3. We have a civic duty to direct the government the way that we, the People want it to go.

  4. It would seem so.
