What an entirely Republican idea, but anyway, whatever,

can anyone put anything besides themselves first in this god-forsaken country anymore?

Yours truly can barely conceive of it.

Except I recycle everything I can, and all of that happy c**p I was raised to do, and I'm not much of a spender on junk, and am finally financially sound, and all of that.

Hmmm... not greedy, just not giving anything major.

OK, so how do we change that?

What habits can we change, and what actions can we take, to truly put America first?

It's such a travesty that they cannot cross party lines to ask Dem JFK's famous line-

Ask not waht your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

He echoes in McCain's anthem, loud and clear...

Sarah Palin already does.  If you want to learn how to better America and put the country first, then listen to Sarah Palin.  She has her head screwed on straight and does not attempt to pander to the American People.  She tells the truth!  Honesty... what a novel idea!

It is for the reasons you listed that I strongly identify with the individualist element in the Republican party, rather than the collectivist element of the Democrat party.  The Democratic Party of Truman and JFK is long gone.  It died in November of 1963 in Dallas.

Based on what I have seen on Fox, if you spend yourself into debt, this puts America first, because you are going to pay interest to the credit card companies, and therefore the few who managed to invest money, rather than spend it, will benefit. It would be terrible if people stopped overspending.
