Forgetting PE kit.......?

Question

Are teachers allowed to make you take your shoes and socks off if you forget your kit? I forgot my PE kit and was told i had to take off my socks and shoes and roll up my trousers for an indoor dance lesson.

that sounds weird so I'm not sure about that

All I can think of is that your shoes were probably the kind you shouldn't wear on a gym floor and you could slip in your socks or on your pant legs. Doesn't sound unreasonable.
