  1. Just an observation, but are you an American?

  2. We forgive you.

  3. It is actually very simple..

It is a reward or advantage given to the team which has just scored. That's it.

The team that kicks off can still regain the ball if they play tactically clever though.

You will see that in modern rugby the kicking team will now usually kick the ball in very deep to gain territory and hope to steal the ball in opposition territory.

There are not so many short (10 meter) kick offs anymore as the receiving team will immediately have an attacking advantage.

BUT remember, they must still SECURE the ball. In a short kick-off the kicking team still has a great chance to regain the ball especially if the drop kick is nice and high or "hanging" which gives their players a chance to regain possession.

Against a giant team like say the Springboks or All Blacks, regaining the ball is slim though. So rather kick deep for territory.

  4. Against a power house team this is a dumb rule. However having the ball in your own territory is never a good thing as a lot can go wrong. Getting a penalty, knocking the ball on, or straight up losing the ball can easily happen when receiving a kick.

  5. That's because you spell SENSE with a C sweetie.

Why should the opposition who just got scored against start with the ball? They stuff up, they get scored against and you give them the ball? Surely the team that did the hard work and scored the points deserves to be rewarded by getting the ball back...Call me crazy but doesn't that create the incentive to score more points?

And as for "passing the ball to a team member" ...Just shut up. Go back to your finger painting and let the big kids talk it out.

  6. Rugby does have some obscure rules but this one does make SOME sense.

The idea will usually be to get it as far down the field, into the opposition's half, as possible, giving your team a chance to gain back possession of the ball near the opposition's tri-line.

  7. because if you score you get more advantage

    its like a reward

giving it to your own team instead of kicking is a sissy idea

however you can kick the ball 10 meters and try & chase it

the powerful team should get most advantage

i suggest you understand rugby before trying to suggest new rules

  8. yeah i always think the same!

  9. Forgiven..it's a valid question, but it's about territorial advantage.

The idea is either put a long drop out into your opponent's half thus putting them under immediate pressure to defend, or kick the ball out, therefore giving your team the advantage of a throw in at the lineout, in the opposition's half.

You can also go for a short restart, giving your players territorial advantage along with a chance to reclaim the ball straight away.
