Forgot his spelling words?

My son is 7 and in first grade there supposed to write down their spelling words 2 times, and then the teacher check mark's it that they did that, then there supposed to bring them home every Monday/tuesday and my son say's there are theives in his room and they took his spelling words and they are not in his cubby. I told him that he is responsible for brining his homework home and after even writing himself a note he should have re-written them, I told him he can call his friend and get them from him this time but next time he needs to write them down. Did i do the right thing?

my friends little sister did this and almost failed cause of this so me and her older sister emailed the teacher and asked us to send us the list of words every week and then we would drill her

needless to say her grade went up dramatically

Send a note, outlining his assertions, to the teacher. IF he IS being stolen from or bullied, this is the best time to nip it in the bud. IF he is fibbing, you need to be able to act on that quickly also.

my daughter is quite the forgetful child herself u did the right thing just stay on top of him he'll learn how important it is sooooooner or latter ( i hope :(  )

Well if this is a one time thing it should be ok. But if it keeps happening u should call his teacher and see if she/he has any ideas. Yes u did the right ting. = )
