  1. o that sucks. Thats what happened to me once, although i cant remember how they did it but its possible. try going to a computer store or something like that. maybe try best buy?(if you live in the US) or just go to a phone book and call the geek squad from best buy and they should help you.

  2. My husband started his in safe mode and then went to user accounts and changed his password from there and it worked.  Start pressing F8 as soon as it starts booting up and that should take you to where you can choose safe mode.

  3. oh ****

  4. when starting the laptop press F8( may differ on different laptops)

but doing this will put it into safe mode and will let you log onto the laptop using administators account. From here you can reset or change your password...

    Good Luck

  5. No problem. You need to go here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum... .

It explains how to get into your laptop to reset passwword. My friend called me this afternoon with this problem and I went to the HP site and found the 3 options listed. We had to use option #2.

Option 2: Startup in Safe Mode

The Windows Administrator account is accessible from Safe Mode. Any user account can be reset from the Windows Administrator account. Use the following steps to access Safe Mode and reset the user account with the missing password.

    1. Hold the Power Button in for 5 seconds to turn off the computer.

    2. Wait 5 seconds and press the Power Button again to start the computer.

    3. Press F8 after the HP or Compaq logo screen, but before the Windows logo screen is displayed.

    4. Select Safe Mode from the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

    5. Select the Administrator account.

NOTE:  If Administrator is not listed as one of the options, type the word "Administrator" (you might have to put the letters in CAPS bc we had to. NO QUOTES.) into username: of the login screen.

NOTE:  HP does not create an Administrator password by default. If the Administrator password was created, it will need to be entered to login as Administrator (CAPS). If the Administrator password is lost or forgotten, see the Windows Administrator options below.

    6. Select Control Panel from the Start Menu.

    7. Select User Accounts.

    8. Select the User's name that you wish to reset the password for.

    9. Select Change Password and follow the on-screen instructions.

We had to type in the word "Administrator" in all capitals for it to let you in. Don't know if you have to do it as well but try it both ways. If it does work with all CAPS then make sure you take the CAPS lock off when typing in your new password. Hope this helps you. I have been using Hp for years and pretty much know how to handle problems like these.

  6. you need to download something called Ophcrack, google it and read there site for directions, and follow the directions exactly as it says

  7. I would reccomend you contact hp customer support. They may be able to help with the scanner, and may help you get past the password.
