Forgot the word..."to live life through another person"?

Question

It means to live your life through another person.

For example, if a mother did not go to her high school prom, she would not only want her daughter to go, but would make it extra special because she did not do it herself...

But i forgot what that word was that meant "to live life through another person"...

(I believe it starts with an R but Im not sure)

i dont know of such a word... i myself have also used this phrase.

this doesn't mean exactly what you stated, but 'reincarnate' means to live your life as another person, etc. (after you died).
