Question:

Forgot to mention migraines in Top Security Clearance paperwork for Navy. Disqualifying?

I'm enlisted in the Navy as a CTI, meaning I need Top Security Clearance.

I went to MEPS about 1.5 months ago and I'm pretty sure I'm currently being investigated for the clearance.

I used to get migraines once in a blue moon and went to the doctor for it, so it's on my medical record. However I totally forgot to include that in the paperwork, because they haven't bothered me forever.

From what I understand the investigation for TS clearance is quite extensive. So if they see that I'd had a history of migraines (albeit minor) that wasn't mentioned in the documents, is it possible for me to be denied clearance? And if so, then what happens?

All responses appreciated. Thank you!!!

  1. I have an active security clearance (though I won't mention how high).  If you accidentally forget to mention something like that, and it concerns them, they will ask you about it to see if you tell the truth (they will know before asking you).  Migraines are hardly enough to disqualify a TS for you, so it's really not a big deal.

They do know people are just that, people.  And we do have the tendencies to forget minor things.  As long as you don't come here saying you forgot to mention that you were a crack addict for 10 years, you'll be okay.

  2. If you haven't suffered from them for years you will have no problems at all with the SBI due to failure to mention them.  If asked, don't lie.

  3. Migraines in an of themselves are not a DQ for CTx.  heck, one of our fellow IWOs was DQd from subs due to his migraines and got sent to Cryppiedom.

but as the other guy said: when they ask you.. tell the truth.  minor forgetfulness is forgivable.  LYING about stuff ain't.    assume that any question they ask, they already know the truthful answer to.
