I somehow forgot to put a stamp on a letter I sent out and it was sent back to me seeing as how my name and address was the return address(on the top left of the envelope). Anyways I was thinking why not just put the address of whoever it i your sending a letter to in the return adress section...this way you wont have to buy a stamp. Would this work??

  1. Haha! you mean post it to yourself and write the address of the recipient as the return. They might have returned it as a one off, maybe they will start charging for that service if it happens more than once.

  2. Yes, it would  go as postage due and it has happened to me.  The sender just never had a return address on the envelope.  I Even had one come postage due from Austrailia to the US!

You can always send those annoying junk mail pieces back in their postage prepaid envelopes without a return address too. lol

  3. I've done it - it worked.

Sorry - I should have mentioned - this is illegal. If you break the law, even over a 42 cent postage, you run the risk of arrest, fine or imprisonment.

  4. Most likely not because they'll notice it has the same address for both the return and to. Your letter will just not get sent or returned.

  5. No, they would have to pay the postage due.

  6. hmmm... It might, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal... It'd be interesting to try and drop it off in one of the post office boxes...

  7. That is mail fraud and you can get many years in prison for doing it.

If the mail is going to someone with a different post office it will be noticed immediately. They will see that the return address is not served by the post office that received it and could not have been mailed from there.

  8. lmao. That is actually a good idea, but I'm sure at some point, if not on the very first try, the game would be caught on to, and well..I'd rather not be a thief/con artist, lol. I'm sure there is probably some law about it, actually.

  9. yea

  10. Yes it works, one of my sister's friends did it when we were kids.  But it's illegal.
