Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Novices’ Hurdle will take place at Taunton on 1st March, 2012. The track covers a distance of 2 miles, 3 furlongs, and 110 yards. The 12 runners will be competing for a purse of £4,224.

Forgotten Gold, trained by Tom George, secured a placed position in the season’s debut.
The 6-year-old son of Dr. Massini, out of Ardnataggle, was defeated by Barbatos and Batonnier, in the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, at Cheltenham, on 1st January, 2012.
The gelding finished in 5th place in his most recent race, the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, which was registered as the Classic Novices’ Hurdle Race, held at Cheltenham on 28th January, 2012.
Jump City, son of Muhtathir, out of Just Fizzy, finished as a runner-up in the Southwest-Racing.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle, which took place on 9th January, 2012, at Taunton.
The 6-year-old gelding was defeated by Darlan by ½ lengths.
Trained by Paul Nicholls, Jump City shows great potential.
Nicholls is hoping that Jump City will improve as his most recent performance was not up to the mark. He finished in 7th out of a line-up of 8 in the Pulteney Land Investment LTD Handicap Hurdle.
Bygones In Brid, son of Old Vic, out of St Carol, finished in 4th place in the concluding race of 2011.
He was in the rear but started chasing the leaders as he driven out towards the end, in the E.B.F Jenny &Mark Pitman Gold Syndicates “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle, which was held at Cheltenham, on 9th December, 2011.
Princely Player, son of King’s Theatre, out of Temptation, finished 4th in his seasonal debut, in the Betfair. For Better Odds Maiden Open National Hunt Flat race, which took place at Taunton, on 19th January, 2012.
Trained by Philip Hobbs, the 5-year-old gelding shows promise and capability.
New Christmas could not complete the seasonal debut as he unseated his jockey, James Davies, after a bad stumble, in the Bathwick Tyres Salisbury Novices’ Hurdle, at Wincanton, on 18th February, 2012.
It is likely that this race will be lead by Forgotten Gold. He is an object of interest to the bookmakers. Large bets are being placed on him and will be the race favourite in this event.
His odds of winning have been calculated as 11 to 8.
Jump City is also getting a significant amount of bets. There is hope that he will be able to improve his performance in this race today. His winning odds are 13 to 8.
