  1. i would say it is.

if i am notmistaken OSHA requires that industrial trucks/forsklifts be inspected prior to every use and that any defects or need of repair be noted and addressed immediately and put out of service until corrections have been made. i think that the bald tires will constitute A) lack of traction, thus making it unsafe to workers around and even the operator. B) since the tires will be smaller due to being worn out, the gear ratio will be affected, thus putting the forklift "out of manufacturere's specifications" and altering the manufacturers specs is an osha violation in itself.

  2. the only time ive seen tred on forklift tires is when the lift is being used on rough ground. on a concrete floor tires should be smooth for a more comfortable ride.

  3. Forklifts that work inside warehouses don't need tread on the tires.  In fact, most of them come with smooth tires to start with.  It's not an OSHA violation.  Don't stir up trouble, or you may be looking for a new job!

  4. take photos and mail them.

  5. She'll be right mate.

  6. The deciding factor in this question, is whether or not this forklift is used on a public roadway or just inside a private facility.

If it's being used on a public roadway, then it must comply with that State's laws regarding tires. In some States, rubber tires are permitted up to a point.

However, if the forklift is solely used inside a private facility, then the answer is probably not. This is more of a union problem regarding safety.

  7. Operator’s daily checklist for a forklift.

    Visual Inspection

    Tires/Wheels:

Check tire thread; wear, damage, nuts tight.

    Head/Tail/Working Lights:

Check bulbs and if damaged, mounting, operation

    Guages/Instruments:

Make sure guages aren’t damage, fully operation

    Operator Restraints:

Inspect damaged, mounting, operation, check oil quality.

  8. Indoors bald Outdoors some tread is needed

  9. my work has 17 fork lifts  cats, yale clarks, nissan,  and a couple other brands.  ive noticed on the bigger lifts the ones that lift 5000-8000 pounds the tires are bald and they come that way we just got 2 brand new clarks and they have bald tires

  10. i am unable to find actual references or laws on this, but if you are truly concerned for your safety or the safety of others while this forklift is in operation, i would look up your local OSHA rep. and ask them.
