I'm interested in this job which on rare occasion requires you to drive a forklift. I have operated one once. I have used a manual lift all the time. Will they retrain me on the forklift? Is there anyone can give me a website on forklifts

  1. yes they will train u, then certify.  u tell them u have only used a manual forklift before.  its not hard just need to get used to driving n lifting,  u got the lifting part done.  now learning the driving.  your co.  should provide u with proper training.  if not check your local state website they sometimes have a place for u to go for proper training n certification

  2. In CA each employer must have a class on forklift safety for all drivers. You are better off finding a training class in Y local and having a certificate when you apply like I used to do. Then it won't matter.

  3. Your employer should give you any required training on their particular lift...Check with them to see about certification if you are required to drive it more than a couple of hours a day.

Just a couple of tips from my day, I was more comfortable driving backward 1) the steering wheels were underneath me, 2) the forks and load were behind me and not likely to hit anything, 3) people always knew I was coming from the backup beeper...Keep the load about 8-10 inches above ground level.

    All the best.

  4. Your company should because it starts at around $300.00 plus.

Here is a site that has alot of information.
