Form 1099-C and still being sued???

Got a form 1099-C and paid the appropriate taxes for the debt canceled. Now I have received a letter threatening to sue me for the full amount of the original debt. Is this legal? What are my options? I live in Ohio if this changes the applicable laws at all.

  1. if you have all the paper work and it claims that debt has been settled then you may not be sued.. photo copy everything and sent it back into them until they stop sending stuff to you...
