Not sure what your asking but arid soils are created when there is more evaporation taking water out of the soil than going back in through precipitation.  Plants normally can not grow in arid soils, but some like cactai (sp?) can.  Sometimes farming techniques and constant planting of crops can cause nutrient loading or salt accumulation which cna inhibit plant growth even more.
