Formatted a WD500GB hard drive

formatted a WD500GB hard drive with windows xp usingthe fat32 format. the disk space shows only 1.99GB FREEHOW CAN I GET THE DISK TO BE THE FULL CAPACITY MINUS THEOPERATING SYSTEM, PLEASE HELP
