Formatting my laptop...?

i bought a laptop from bestbuy. i am plannin got format it and re-install windows.My friend said it is easy and all i need to do is putting the cd in and follow what comes on the screen by pressing Fkeys and enter.

there is a part in which it asked how much should be put aside for the space for windows or drive C or sth like that what should i enter???

  1. the whole amount of the hdd unless u r gonna dual boot it. ie 40gb 40000mb


  2. Unless you want to install multiple OSs you may wish to allocate all your HDD to a single partition as that would yield the best results. If you wish to use multiple OSs then you may wish to split it in equal parts or larger then the OS requirements.

  3. 10 GB or 1/4 th of Hard-disk Capacity whichever is Greater.

  6. This is asking you for what partitions you want on your hard drive so typically if you had a 20 gig hard drive you whould set it to about 18 gigs in one partition and just leave the rest so it can still function right when it gets full
