Formatting windows xp and serial?

Question

I have been given a laptop because it is old and no longer useful (256 mb ram, 1000 MHz processor, 11Mbs wireless card, 40GB HD). It has a legitimate version of windows xp loaded onto it. The only problem is I cant change some of the setting or install programs properly because it was setup with admin locks. I am therefore going to format it and reinstall windows. Firstly where on the computer do I find the serial, and secondly will the reinstall automatically pick up whatever component is attached to the motherboad.

You might say why dont you just ask the admin to unlock it, normally I would, be he doesnt work for us anymore.

The serial number should be located on the reverse of the laptop. If you have the Windows XP disk, then the serial number will be located on a sticker within the pack or on the envelope with the disk in.

If you can not find it, please e-mail me on [e-mail] and I will provide you with a serial number to use.

Your Windows product key should be on the back of your laptop.

ok... i hope you understand.

first you buy cd windows any where,

on your laptop press del / F2 to setting bios.

klik menu boot you must boot fisrt from cd and than klik exit and save setting....

restart automatic, and than you can look boot from cd in your monitor please enter... any commant press enter,..... oh i cant tell alll....

The serial no. will be on the CD if you have it,otherwise do not format unless you have the OK from M/Soft they will give you the serial if you ask them.

Hold the widows key and press pause. This should bring up a menu that has all the information.
