Former A.C Milan defender Nicola Legrottaglie hoping for Catania move: Serie A news
Former A.C Milan defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicola-Legrottaglie-c27757, is delighted with reports linking him with a move to Catania but insists that the club has made no contact with him as yet.
Legrottaglie is a free agent after Milan released him at the end of the 2010/11 season. The 34-year-old has failed to find a new club since then and is desperate to join any side if a concrete offer comes. The veteran defender
added that he would love to join a Serie A side but will not rule out a move outside the league.
The former Juventus star admitted that he is training on his own and keeping himself in shape to be ready if any team comes up for him.
Legrottaglie said, “I don’t know about Catania, but I am open to anything and I wouldn’t say no if they were interested. I won’t exclude any offer, especially from a Serie A club, but, before anything happens, I have to receive
a call. At the minute I am just training on my own in order to be ready. After 20 years of pre-season training, this is a new experience for me as I’m not part of a squad with teammates.”
“I’m doing fine though because I am convinced that something gratifying will come at the end of it. Something important will arrive before August 31.”
The Elephants are in the market for a new defender to replace Matias Silvestre, who left the club to join Palermo this summer. The former Italian international could be a welcome addition to Vincenzo Montella’s squad, as their
backline struggled during the 2010/11 season. Catania defence leaked too many goals towards the end part of the campaign but despite that they finished the season on 13th spot.
The 34-year-old is an old servant of Italian football and has spent almost 20 years in the game. He has spent the most successful time of his career with Juventus, where he spent almost 8 years and managed to make 114 appearances.
