Fabien Cool is a player who has left his mark on the history of AJA. The former goalkeeper made more than 400 appearances for the Burgundy club and gave his views on the current situation of his beloved club
The name of Fabien Cool is something that people in Auxerre revere and cherish. With more than 450 games for the Burgundy club, Cool has the record of the most games played by anyone for the Yonne side. Retired since 2007, the goalkeeper is now working on
his coaching badges and still keeps in touch with the club he joined in 1993.
The Frenchman says that he is looking for a way to become a coach in the future and is currently working with local amateur teams in the Burgundy region.
The outspoken former shot-stopper is also trying his hand on politics but says that he is more attached to football which gave him a good career.
In 1996, he won the Ligue 1 with Auxerre and in 2003 and 2005, helped the Burgundy side to two Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 titles.
What sets Cool apart from many players in Auxerre is the fact that he always enjoyed a cult status at the Yonne region and even now, his presence is something the club acknowledges.
As things stand, Auxerre are blighted by a lot of issues which include their fight for survival. And for someone like Cool who enjoyed a lot of success at Auxerre, it is difficult to see how the club is struggling now.
The former custodian says that he has not missed a single home game this season. However, Cool lamented the fact that the club has been making successive errors in recruitment over the years.
“For me, the club has paid for six years of successive errors in recruitment. I don’t think the return of Gerard Bourgoin has changed much. The six years of hiring mistakes have always been there. We might have another coach but things are the same. The
problem is that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Bourgoin is not omnipresent. Some people who have nothing to do with sports are involved and that’s unfortunate.”
However, Cool has said that the situation can be rectified if the club keeps hold of its main players rather than earning money as it can help the club in the long term.
