Former AS Roma striker Ruggiero Rizzitelli confident of Daniele De Rossi’s stay at the club
Former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 will never leave the club.
Reports in the media have linked De Rossi with a summer move to Manchester United or Real Madrid but Rizzitelli believes that the owners will not part company with an important member.
De Rossi, who started his youth career with AS Roma, is under contract until 2012 and plans for a new contract are stalled due to numerous reasons. The 43-year-old is confident that at some point, the Italy international’s heart will speak of his love for
Roma and he will go onto signing the contract.
“The truth is De Rossi won't leave Roma. He is their Bandiera player, the future captain. He is already named as the new captain after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940. De Rossi has already rejected Real Madrid in the past,” said Rizzitelli. “Two years ago the club
had asked for him, but he and [former Roma owners] the Sensi family said no because he is a Roman, a Romanista and he wants to end his career at Roma like Totti. His dream is to remain at Roma with the backing of the new owners and the promise of a strong
team to challenge.”
De Rossi is believed to be upset by the massive boardroom changes under the new ownership and he is concerned about the future of the club under them. Rizzitelli has sent a powerful message to the owners that the fans will not tolerate the departure of De
Rossi.
The former Bayern Munich man continued that if the owners are planning to ring in some team changes, they should make sure that De Rossi is a part of their plans, as selling him would bring harsh consequences for them.
The Italy international has faced a lot of on-field and off-the-field issues in the recent past and has shown signs of being fed up of life in the Italian capital.
However, his loyalty for AS Roma will never be questioned after he rejected a move to Real Madrid two years back to remain with the Italian side for life.
