http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international, Joris Mathijsen, has tied knots with Spanish outfit, Malaga, after leaving Hamburg in the late hours of Thursday. The two-year contract runs through to the end of 2012/13 season. Both clubs decided not to disclose the transfer
amount but it is reported that 2.5 million Euros were agreed upon for the player’s transfer.
The 31-year-old decided to part ways with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 at the end of the 2010/11 campaign following the limited number of chance being offered at the club. The full-back expressed delight after signing a two-year contract with the Spanish outfit and was

Mathijsen’s contract has a 20 million Euro release clause attached to it. The player, though, confirmed that he would honour his two-year contract with the club and was confident about his first team chances with his new outfit. Oenning, wished the defender all the very best for his future with Malaga but seemed disappointed at the decision taken by the Dutch international after spending a long five-year spell with the club.
He further added that the player was and would still remain an idol for most of the young and upcoming defenders at the club. Oenning admitted to the Dutchmen’s frustration on not getting enough first team appearances. However, he revealed that the player
has become an inspiration to many at the club with his achievements.
The former AZ player joined the Hamburger squad in 2006 and managed 145 Bundesliga appearances before parting ways with the Red Shorts. He also had six goals under his belt from those games. Mathijsen made his Netherlands debut in 2004 and has 72 appearances
under his belt to date, netting three times during the process.
