Former Activision employee Robin Kaminsky wants next gen consoles to be launched now
Robin Kaminsky, who used to work as a executive vice president of publishing for Activision, has gone on to admit that he feels that next generation consoles should hit the market sooner rather than later.
Kaminsky has gone on to state that the current games market is in trouble and that the only way out, is for the next gen consoles to hit the market and revolutionize the market once again. He then went on to add that one of the prime reasons for games not
being innovative anymore, was because the game development had become stagnated.
Kaminsky is quoted to have said, “Many believe digital sales and the economy are the core drives of the decline. I believe a lack of innovation - actual stagnation in game development - is the real culprit”
He then went on to add, "For traditional games to grow, I believe a new generation of consoles is needed, consoles with real innovation and the resulting onslaught of new IP and innovative gameplay. Ideally these consoles will bring a breakthrough on how
games are played or what kind of game experience can be delivered."
She then went on to state that next gen consoles didn’t have to mean that the games were just going to boast better graphics and a more complex structure, but in fact they were going to change the way that people interacted, by providing some over the top
gameplay which could really help the users appreciate the games even more.
When talking about just what she was expecting from the next generation of video game consoles, Kaminsky went on state that she wanted to see a mobile device which could be accessed just about anywhere. Both the short and longer play sessions needed to be
highlighted, while casual and hardcore gamers needed to be identified. The controllers needed to face some massive upgrades.
Looking at how the PlayStation Network and the Microsoft XBL worked, she mentioned how free game trials should be used more frequently.
She then ended by stating that in order to really get the most out of the next generation of consoles, they would have to become social media hubs, along with delivering next generation games.
At the moment, a number of rumours have been floating about which suggest that the Xbox 720 could be heading to stores sooner rather than later. As a result, if that was to happen then Sony are more than likely to follow the lead and drop the PlayStation
4 in the near future as well.
