Former Angolan handball captain, Filomena Trindade advices her team – Handball News
Filomena Trindade, the former captain of the senior female handball team of Angola is pleased by the performance of her national women’s handball team. She was talking to the media. She has been hopeful for her national side in
upcoming events. She gave some useful tips for her former national team. Trindade is concerned for her team ahead of the 2011 World Women’s Handball Championship. The tournament will be held in Brazil from December 2 to 18, 2011.
The Angolan national women’s handball team will be taking part in these Handball Championships. The Angolan team had qualified for the Handball Championships after earning their place by qualifying the matches at the 2010 African
Championship. They are placed in the Group A of the Handball Championships. Their first match would be against China on December 3, 2011.
Trindade was excited for the Angolan team to take part in the Handball Championships in Brazil. She said that her hopes are high that Angola will enter the second round of the championship. She gave insights about the match and
the tournament, which would have been useful for the team.
According to Trindade, Angola should do their best to perform at their best in the first stage. In the first stage of the championship, Angola would be facing China, Montenegro and Iceland. She has the view that if Angola can play
good game against these three teams, then Angola may have a chance to enter the second stage. Trindade also stressed on the fact that the Angolan team would need to focus on the opponents’ weaknesses. She also said that her team can make good, effective use
of its key qualities which are scoring capability, good defence and speed.
Trindade thinks that if Angola can beat these three teams, they can enter the second stage, as the three teams could be easier for Angola to play against and beat them. Trindade also gave some insights to her team. She said that
the Angolan team would need to work on the team’s strong points from the first match they play in the Handball Championship. The Angolan team would also have to look into their weaknesses, which would be highlighted once they would be facing their opponents
in the championship.
