Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 midfielder Ossie Ardiles claims Lionel Messi is the best footballer in history
Former Argentinean midfielder Ossie Ardiles has claimed that Barcelona’s Lionel Messi will go down in history as the greatest footballer to ever play the game. Ardiles believes that Messi will outshine even the two brightest legends of the game; Diego Maradona and Pele.
Ardiles, who was recently appointed as the manager of the Argentine Legends for the Football 40 brand, sees many similarities between Lionel Messi and fellow countryman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Maradona-c11160. However, he believes that history will remember Messi as the better player, since the little Argentinean has to deal with the added pressures faced by modern day footballers.
Speaking on the matter, Ardiles said, “I think there is only one player you can compare with Messi, and that is Maradona, and in many ways they are very similar. But for some time I have thought that Diego could never be surpassed, and nor could Pele, but no longer. I would now say that Lionel Messi will go down in history as the number one player of all time, the best that there ever was.”
He further added, “Messi is under pressure all the time, and has to play in incredibly high intensity games all of the time, the Champions League being the perfect example."
However, FIFA player of the century Pele does not agree with the views of Ossie Ardiles. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international insists that he is still the best player in the history of the game.
When asked about who he thought was the best footballer, Pele had earlier said, “Pele. But, of course, we have a lot of good players. It is difficult to say. But nobody does or did what Pele did. Then, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pele-c40189, to me, is the best.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 will be in action on Tuesday, 3rd May, when Barcelona face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. The Catalans have one foot in the final of the tournament, having defeated their bitter rivals 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the tie. If Barcelona keep a clean sheet at the Nou Camp, they will be competing in the final at Wembley against either Manchester United or Schalke 04.
