Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has backed Bolton Wanderers centre-back Gary Cahill to become a mainstay in the England national football team alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895.
Keown believes that Cahill has attracted many suitors and will certainly be moving to a big club next season. The former Aston Villa defender has been linked to a host of clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Arsenal.
However, Keown believes that Cahill will become a huge hit if he joins Manchester City, as they are looking to sign a world-class centre-back to partner http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184. The former Everton defender believes that Cahill will make a formidable defensive partnership
with Kompany if he joins the Blues.
However, the 44-year-old believes that Cahill should add audacity and confidence to his game, in order to become a world-class defender.
The Arsenal hero told a British tabloid, "Gary Cahill should be walking on air heading back to Bolton Wanderers. Against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 he showed he's comfortable on the ball, he can change direction quickly and that he has got a good awareness of the defensive line
- not an easy thing to do at Wembley with all the pressure of making his first start."
Keown added, “I see him potentially as a long-term England partner for John Terry and I wouldn't have said that 12 months ago. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 is playing Champions League football and for the moment that experience nudges him in front.”
The former Arsenal defender continued that Cahill should add confidence to his game and should make big tackles to catch people’s attention. He also believed that the Rebook Stadium stalwart should play like a leader on the pitch, as it would help him improve
his game.
The former defender believes that Bolton, who signed Cahill for a bargain price at 5 million pounds from Aston Villa in 2008, could sell him somewhere in the region of around 15 million pounds.
He reckons that Arsenal, who are also in desperate need of signing a world-class centre-back, will be priced out of a move for Cahill and Liverpool or Manchester City are likely destinations for the player.
