Former Arsenal keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297 labels Manchester City as boring
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 number one and German international, Jens Lehmann has gone ahead and labelled Manchester City as one of the most boring teams to watch.
The keeper, was part of the most impressive Arsenal team that went on to win the Premier League in the 2003-2004 season without suffering a single loss. As a result, the keeper is well aware of how to play entertaining football.
However, with the keeper now having retired, he acts as a pundit for German television stations. During City’s game with Bayern Munich, which the Manchester based team went on to win by two goals to nil, Lehmann went on to blast the team
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323, as he labelled them as a boring team.
Lehmann, when talking about City is quoted to have said:
"Man City play very, very boring football"
"They just make their opponents fall asleep with lots of possession.
"But to be honest, that is not tactically very demanding. The way they play here is the way any amateur team plays, only not on such good grass.
"They just pack men behind the ball, have five against two and just move the ball around. The goal then just comes from a fortunate circumstance."
Lehmann then went on to blast the City fans, as he went on to claim that they were boring and despite their side dominating the proceedings in the game, they just didn’t spring into life.
"There was no life in the stadium," he added.
However, he saved his best comments for last, as he went on to admit that City didn’t deserve to play in the Champions League.
"We don't want to see Manchester City in the Champions League."
It seems like Lehmann may have seen his wish come true, as City failed to qualify for the next round of the tournament, despite beating Bayern Munich.
City went on to beat their German opponents by two goals to nil, with the two goals being scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 going on and beating Villarreal, the team was sent crashing out of the tournament and
into the Europa League.
As a result, the team’s first ever Champions League outing came to an end, much earlier than they would have hoped for it to.
However, despite all of Lehmann’s claims, if City keep playing the way they have and keep producing favourable results, they could easily go on and pick up a trophy or two at the end of the season.
Should that happen, neither the players, nor the fans would be disappointed with the ‘boring football’ that Lehmann believes the team plays.
