http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermaine-Pennant-c18364 has reiterated his desire to continue playing under Tony Pulis at Stoke City claiming that the manager and him share an understanding.
Stoke City are assured a place in next season’s Barclays Premier League as they sit in 14th place in the league and are 12 points clear of the relegation zone. One player who has been absent for lengthy periods this season is former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 winger, Jermaine Pennant.
Pennant’s frustration with having to play as a wing-back in Stoke’s recent encounter with Wigan Athletic was no secret as the winger wanted more freedom to be able to attack, yet the manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis wanted him to more cautious and focus on defending.
The winger stated, “My best position is pushing forward and getting crosses in”, a position that Pennant didn’t find himself in as he ended up having to do “a lot of defending”.
However, he explained that his frustration was something that the manager understood and that the media had blown up to be something that it wasn’t, “Someone wanted to make a story from it, but the gaffer understood what I was trying to say.”
Pennant stated that there was no talk of him leaving the Potters at the end of the season. He said, “I am still here, no-one has said anything about leaving and I am not going to leave.”
As for next season, Pennant expects to link up with the squad for pre-season training and see out his contract with the club.
“I’m going to return in July for pre-season training – although I’m not looking forward to that. I’ve got another year on my contract and then another year kicks in after appearances, so I could eventually have two years left.”
Pennant and his teammates will now turn their attention to their next Barclays Premier League match as they are still in with a shout to finish in the top half of the table come the end of the season.
The club managed to upset Manchester City in recent weeks and one never knows what to expect from Stoke, who are a nightmare to play against at the Britannia Stadium.
